WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF A CLAIM?
You are never really prepared for a disaster but when it does occur, it is imperative to react as quickly as possible. This is done by respecting the procedure to follow to protect yourself and ensure you benefit from the best possible compensation.
1- Have the claim noted
Whether you are responsible or not, the first reflex to adopt is to have the loss recorded by the gendarmerie or the police in the event of bodily injury, or by a bailiff if the damage is purely material.
2- Declare the claim
Always make sure to declare the loss as soon as possible in writing to your insurer and especially within the time limits provided for in the contract to be compensated as quickly as possible. This will be a period of five (05) working days in the event of an accident or 48 hours if it is a question of theft.
3- Provide the statement or declaration certificate to the insurer
This document will allow the insurer to establish the circumstances of the accident, the possible responsibilities and to calculate the indemnities to which the insured or the victim is entitled.
4- Provide supporting documents relating to the incident
Provide proof of the value of the damaged item before and after the loss. This proof can consist of purchase invoices and or an expert report.
And also provide all the supporting documents for the repairs to be carried out or the expenses already carried out which could allow the damage suffered to be assessed.
